Friday 12 - 1:30 Contemporary Jazz - Julio

Julio is awesome. He shortened the warm-up and we did three things across the floor. They were all rolling on the floor, getting back up, and getting back down. I usually avoid this type of stuff because I am so tall it is hard to go down and come back on time. I have some great war wounds and I am sure more will surface by tomorrow. It was great to be forced to do this though. It made me think that I should get Justine to come and teach some rolling around on the floor stuff with my kids... and me! We could use some of that. I would love to go to her classes.. but I just can't keep up with her.

Anywho - great choreo today too. It was really cute and quirky and quick! I got most of it except I can't fall to my knee fast and roll... once I did and I heard my body bang. I gotta practise that slowly when I am back in my own studio. I will put it one of the kids dances so I have to get it. I have always liked it. It looks cool. Julio is keeping me fresh!

Thursday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Tierny

Today I had the best class I have had in the morning so far. I was still really stiff in my upper back but I was at least able to get into rabbit. I got a little dizzy during the balancing series but I didn't have to crouch down or miss any poses. I did come out early and stand and breathe a couple of times. This is when I remember I was going to make juice the night before and drink it on the way. I might still do that. I just have to remember to make juice the night before - need to start that little routine.

Toe stand is getting better.

I feel bad for the girl next to me. She is always there in the morning. She has a big blue tape on her knee. I wonder what that is for? Alignment? She wasn't able to do some of the kneeling postures. She has beautiful ballerina feet.

I came home and Jonny was getting ready for work and the boy was still sleeping. I got to make juice and then go in and look at him and he was just smiling away. Love him!

Wednesday 5:30 - 6:30 Hip Hop - Ken

Ken was teaching for JP today. There were only seven students in class. He is a pretty funny teacher but I think we were a tough crowd. He joked that we were in yoga class.

He taught a choreo with lots of body rolls and explained contrast and balance at the start of class.

This was the first dance class with the mullet. It got pretty sweaty. I wish I didn't have such an efficient cooling system. Oh well... lucky me!

I look forward to Jazz on Friday. It is good to be back at dance.

Tuesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Tanya

I miss Bali! Andrea and her family are there now. Sad face.
Well - my bed head was super awesome this morning but I was able to wet it down just enough to look almost normal for class.

I still didn't have an awesome class. I still struggled during the cardio section but it is better. I really wonder if it is possible to have an awesome 6am class? I think I am just too stiff in the morning and too hungry. Maybe I should get up earlier and eat something... or have a car snack ready and not get up earlier. Maybe make my juice the night before. I will try that tonight.

My rabbit was awful today but my toe stand was better. I guess my abs are coming back!

It was quite a full class this morning. The busiest 6am I have seen yet.

When I got home Jonny was showering and the boy was still sleeping. Even though it is hard to get up and go it is the perfect time for me to go. I get it done no matter what happens the rest of the day.

Monday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Mari

It is a yucky, rainy day out. I woke up and rolled over and almost didn't get up. BUT, I did and I went and I am done!

I still didn't have an awesome class. Maybe I am just hungry?

It is the first class with my new hair. It faired quite well getting all sweaty. I think I like it even more now.

When I got home the boy and Jonny were cuddling in the bed. They looked super cute.

Friday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Tanya!

I love Tanya. I wish I could of heard the story she was telling half way through the floor series. I think it was something about teaching young kids... or playing a game... there were five teams... she named some of the teams and they seemed to have funny names that people were laughing at. Maybe one day I will have waterproof hearing aids!

Anyways... today wasn't a "good" class but it wasn't as bad as yesterday. I did get dizzy during the standing series but I was able to fight it better than yesterday. I crouched down and missed a couple of things but I kept getting back up and doing the other half or the other side. I didn't miss much. Nothing like yesterday. No headache either.. just a little dizzy. I guess I will be back to normal tomorrow.

I realized something before class started. My hamstring injury on my left leg isn't my original hamstring that was hurt. My right leg is the one I hurt in '88. This left hammy is a brand new injury. I thought I hurt it in dance... and I must have.. but there was no moment... that I can remember where it happened. No wonder it is taking so long to heal. Maybe I should ask the doc about it and go see the physio. I should have done that right away.. but I thought it was the other leg... that I usually overstretch once in a while. I will mention it to him Monday when I go for my wart zapping... HATE! Please get off my foot now PLEASE!

Anywho.. as for running. I still want to run. I have no desire to get up and run with a pack of people. I have lost all interest. Part of me still thinks I won't be able to not do it. But another part of me feels like she is turning over a new leaf. Who knows which side will win at this point. This is all new to me. Usually the stubborn side doesn't even acknowledge that there is another side.

Thursday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Mari

I had a bad wart zapping on Monday which carried on through Tuesday and then Wednesday I was just feeling lazy. I kind of have a headache. I just don't feel like running. I have had thoughts of not doing the race at all. I am not saying I am not doing it yet. I am definitely thinking about bailing on the whole thing. I am just not into it anymore. I know I can do it. I just don't care to. Hopefully, I will pull myself out of this... whatever it is.

This morning I just got up and went to yoges. I was fine until balancing series and then I got dizzy. I did half of everything... I think. I was dizzy and headachey. I was really stiff and my left hammy is still ailing me.

I came home to my beautiful family and made some fresh juice. I am feeling a bit better now. I am going to try to make myself run when Jonny comes home from work. And I am going to get up and go to 6am yoges tomorrow... hopefully with better results!

Saturday Run 8 Km, 42:06 Mins

This is Friday's run. Tomorrow I will do Saturday's run. Then I will be back on track. We ended up going skate boarding last night and when we got back... I was too pooped to run.

When I set out on this run I didn't want to run. I am bored of running. I want to go back to just running when I want... and in one week I can! I don't even want to run this race.. but I have come this far. I am going to check it off my list and not do another one again for another ... couple of years.. or never! hahaha! But I am sure Carrie will talk me into one. I wouldn't mind doing the Tofino one or the Disneyland one.

Friday 12 - 1:30 Bikram Cambie - Cedric

I can't believe I had Cedric two days in a row. I almost left at triangle. As if I would ever leave... But I really wanted to. If you are going to take so long in each posture at least help the dude out that is doing it completely wrong. You can't miss him. And you really shouldn't do any demos in those yoga shorts. I swear I saw a ball when you demoed standing bow. I had to look away. To little and lost the elastic around the leg. No good my friend. No good.

I thought about Yolandi hair. I gotta do that soon. I remember when I was little my mom asked me how I wanted my hair and I said short at the front and long at the back- like my walking doll. I'm going to do this hair style sooner than later! Anywho... Yoga is done. I still gotta run but I don't really feel like it. Maybe later when it gets sunny.

Thursday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Cedric

I love being done yoges this early in the morning.

Cedric wasn't the teacher on the schedule. I was disappointed when I saw him at the front desk. His class this morning was a lot better than the last one I had with him. So... all good!

My hammy is still aching and bugging me a bit.

I did balancing toe on the broken ankle side!

I did floor bow.

I had a good class... .and now I am done!

Wednesday Run 5.2 Km, 29:26 Mins

I ran into Azelia before I started my run and we had a little chat.

I also ran into the rain! I ran around Science World and past that restaurant to the place where I turn around for a 6km run. Then I ran back but I went over the bridge because it was really raining.

I did three Tabata sessions. The first one and last one I ran them all but the second one I last the eighth one... because I thought I was done and the music surprised me when it came on and I was like.. no... I am going to walk and breathe still. That is better than last time. I feel like a dork but it feels good to giver. The last session I did was a bit downhill for some of it... so it was a little easier.

Tuesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Tanya!

I thought I would try and get up before the boys woke up this morning .. and Thursday... and go to yoges. I was startled by my alarm that wasn't the boy. I had everything ready so I just got up and went.

I was really stiff - especially in rabbit but other than that... oh and my wart foot which was just zapped yesterday... I was good. I love Tanya and I never get to have her as a teacher so it was a nice treat. She gave me one correction... standing separate leg head to knee.... make sure my forehead is right on my knee... move my head a little to the outside so it is centred. I am going to remember to do that each time. (I didn't hear her the first time she told me but she came back to check the second round and she explained it again... damn my def ears!)

I got home and the boys were still asleep. I had a quick shower and there was my real alarm clock.. the boy! Perfect timing. I hope it goes this smoothly on Thursday!

Monday Run 6 Km, 33:37 Mins

New shoes... again. I don't want to talk about it. I am not going to lose my left big toe nail... fingers crossed.

I felt great. I ran slower. It was hot and there were a lot of people out and about. Christian and I had already walked this route today and some of the same people were still sitting in the same spots enjoying the beach. It was a beach day for sure. Hopefully it will be nice like this tomorrow and Christian and I will bring the tent out to the beach! Fun summer times!

Saturday Run 20 Km, 1 H 55 Mins

DONE! That is all I have to say. This is the last run of this length before the race. It is time to taper and carb up. Hopefully the excitement of race day will make me run faster.

Friday 8:15 - 9:45 Bikram Cambie - Chelsea

I haven't taken an 8:15pm class in a long time. It was nice today because I had the best of two worlds. I got to be lazy all morning and ealry afternoon and then I was active for the rest of the day. I usually am active in the morning and chilling in the evening but this was a nice change.

I think maybe I could do this class doing the school year. I bathed Christian and got him ready for bed and Jonny took it from there. I'm home and in bed by ten. I am feeling kind of energized though- not very sleepy. Anywho - we will see.

On the way to yoges I stopped at the Running Room and got Gu and socks in preparation for my long run. I'm feeling positive.

Friday Run 8 Km, 40:34 Mins

I had a great run today. YAY! I am both dreading and looking forward to tomorrow's twenty. And when I say looking forward to.. that means looking forward to it being over.

Today I ran down the alley and to second beach pool and back. The sun was shining and there were lots of people out enjoying it. I saw one old guy swimming in the ocean. It looked so refreshing that I wanted to jump in myself. I feel lucky to live where I do... especially on days like today.

Wednesday Run 6.2 Km, 32:25 Mins

Today I tried something new for speed training. I tried Tabata training. This is eight, twenty second intervals with ten second breaks in between. I made a mix of music that gave me five minutes to warm-up then a Tabata track, another five minute run, and another Tabata track, and then music to run back.

This was hard but I can see how it works. I was out of breath and I was unable to complete all eight intervals. I missed the sixth one on the first track and the forth and seventh on the second. I took the extra time to breather.

I am going to add this into my work outs at school for the kids... not with running.. but with abs or push ups or something. It will be awesome. I was thinking of adding it into the normal warm-up but I think it should be something that we do once a week... not every day. It is draining and if you don't give it your all it is a waste of time. Whereas if you try your hardest you will gain great results.

Monday Run 6 Km, 30:20 Mins

My hamstring was hurting and impeding me the first kilometre and a half. After that I was able to move my legs faster. This is the speed I was running when I first started ... before I over did it. I really had to force myself to keep my legs moving this fast and it didn't seem as easy as it used to. I am looking forward to this race being over and running for again... and not as much! Almost done!!

Saturday Run 18 Km, 1H 45 Mins

I wanted to remember three things from my run... it is a few hours later... but let's see if I can remember them.

1. At Jherico there was an Asian family that had set up for a party. They had a tarp ready to go up and a table with a rice cooker. It was about ten in the morning and they had the best spot - close to the washrooms, on the grass, and the beach right there. I was thinking that this is what I want to do for my birthday next year. I want a family day at the beach. No fancy restaurant. A nice beach chill day. Weather permitting of course. It is too bad the boy's birthday is the end of November. It would be a good birthday party space for him too!!

2. I saw a dad changing a boy about one year old on the grass. He had just opened the diaper and it looked like he had had carrots... a lot of them! Gross. The loads we have to look forward to. Notice it was the dad changing the diaper.

3. My feet hurt. Blisters. I have to get running socks and gel for my water this week. I shouldn't have tried to pumice the calluses yet. Don't touch your feet until after the race.

When I got home I was so sore. I started off sore before from dance on Friday. I got out of the shower and laid on the bed and I could hardly get up. Next week I am going to move my run to Sunday. The race is on a Sunday so it will be better for my body to get used to running Sunday morning. That will also give me a day off between dance and running. The week of the race I won't take that Friday class at all.

20 km next week.. then taper.. then RACE! Almost done! I can't wait!! Then... no more challenges.. just enjoy life and dance, yoga, and run when I want!!
